Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 28:336

Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn ‘Amr informed us, from Abu Salamah, from Abu Hurayrah, that he arrived to ‘Umar from Bahrain. He said: So I arrived to him and prayed the Isha prayer with him. When he saw me, I greeted him, and he said: "What have you brought?" I said: "I have brought five hundred thousand." He said: "Do you know what you are saying?" I said: "I have brought five hundred thousand." He said: "What are you saying?" I said: "One hundred thousand, one hundred thousand, one hundred thousand, one hundred thousand, one hundred thousand," until I had counted five. He said: "You are sleepy; return to your house and sleep, then come to me in the morning." He said: So I went to him in the morning, and he said: "What have you brought?" I said: "Five hundred thousand." He said: "Is it pure (halal)?" I said: "Pure; I know nothing but that." He said: So he said to the people: "Indeed, a great deal of wealth has come to me. If you wish, we will count it for you by counting, and if you wish, we will measure it for you by measuring." A man said: "O Commander of the Faithful, I have seen these non-Arabs (Ajam) keeping a register (diwan) and giving people from it." He said: So he established the registers and assigned for the Muhajirun five thousand each, and for the Ansar four thousand each, and he assigned for the wives of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, twelve thousand each.
