Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 28:366

Isma'il ibn Shu'ayb al-Samman narrated to us, from Umm al-'Ala', that her father took her to 'Ali, and he assigned a share for her in the stipend while she was young. He said: And 'Ali said, "The child who eats food and bites on a piece of bread is not more entitled to this stipend than the newborn who sucks the breast."
