Hadith 28:368

Waki’ narrated to us, he said: Musa ibn Ali ibn Rabah narrated to us, from his father, that Umar ibn al-Khattab addressed the people at al-Jabiyah. He praised Allah and extolled Him, then said: "Whoever wishes to ask about the Quran, let him come to Ubayy ibn Ka'b. Whoever wishes to ask about the laws of inheritance (fara'id), let him come to Zayd ibn Thabit. Whoever wishes to ask about jurisprudence (fiqh), let him come to Mu'adh ibn Jabal. And whoever wishes to ask about wealth, let him come to me, for Allah has made me a treasurer and a distributor. Behold, I shall begin with the first Muhajirun, myself and my companions, and we shall give to them. Then I shall begin with the Ansar who occupied the home and the faith, and we shall give to them. Then I shall begin with the wives of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and we shall give to them. Whoever was swift in migration, the giving shall be swift for him; and whoever was slow in migration, the giving shall be slow for him. So let no one among you blame anyone except the place where his mount knelt."
