Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 28:372

Muhammad ibn Fudayl narrated to us, from Harun ibn Antara, from his father, who said: My father was a friend of Qanbar. He said: I went with Qanbar to Ali, and he said: "O Commander of the Faithful, come with me, for I have hidden a treasure for you." So he went with him to his house, and suddenly I was before a basket filled with bowls of gold and silver. He said: "O Commander of the Faithful, you do not leave anything except that you distribute it or spend it." So he drew his sword and said: "Woe to you! You have loved to bring a great fire into my house." Then he struck it with his sword, and it scattered, with some vessels cut in half and others in thirds. Ali said: "Call the overseers (al-urafa)." They came, and he said: "Distribute this in shares." He said: So they did, while he was saying: "O yellow one, O white one, deceive someone other than me." He began to say: "This is my harvest and its best is in it, while every harvester puts his hand to his mouth." He said: There were needles and awls in the treasury, and he used to take from every people their tax from the work of their hands. He said: He said to the overseers: "Distribute this." They said: "We have no need for it." He said: "By the One in Whose hand is my soul, we shall certainly distribute it, its good along with its bad."
