Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 28:377

Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, he said: Ibn Abi Dhi'b informed us, from al-Abbas ibn Fudayl, from Ubayd Allah ibn Rafi', from his grandfather Abu Rafi', who said: I was the treasurer for Ali. He said: He adorned his daughter with a pearl from the wealth [of the treasury] which he recognized. He saw it on her and said: "From where did she get this? It is upon me before Allah that I shall cut off her hand." He said: When I saw that, I said: "O Commander of the Faithful, I adorned my brother's daughter with it, and from where would she be able to obtain it?" When he saw that, he remained silent.
