Hadith 28:385

Waki' narrated to us, he said: Al-Mas'udi narrated to us, from Muharib ibn Dithar, from Al-Ahnaf ibn Qays: That they were sitting at the door of Umar, and a slave girl came out to them. Some of the people said to her, "Shall we go in to the Commander of the Faithful?" She said, "I do not make it lawful for him," meaning that she was from the *khums* (the one-fifth share of war booty). Then Umar came out and said, "Do you know what I make lawful for myself from this *fay'* (spoils of war)? A mount upon which I perform Hajj and Umrah, two garments—a garment for winter and [a garment for] summer—and the sustenance of the family of Umar, [which is] the sustenance of the household of a man from Quraysh, neither the highest of them nor the lowest of them."
