Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 28:390

Waki’ narrated to us, he said: Isma’il bin Abi Khalid narrated to us, from Qays bin Abi Hazim, who said: ‘Utbah bin Farqad al-Sulami narrated to me, he said: I came to ‘Umar bin al-Khattab with large baskets of *khabis* (a sweet dish), filled, I had never seen anything better than them. He said: "What is this?" I said: "Food I brought to you, for you are a man who fulfills the needs of the people at the beginning of the day, so when you return, you may partake of it." He said: "Uncover one of the baskets." He said: So I uncovered it. He said: "I adjure you, when you return, that you provide every man among the Muslims with a basket of it." I said: "By the One who sets you right, O Commander of the Faithful, if you were to spend all the wealth of Qays, it would not reach that." He said: "Then I have no need for it." Then he called for a bowl containing *tharid* (bread soaked in broth) made of coarse bread and tough meat, and he began eating with me with a hearty appetite. I would reach for a white piece, thinking it was hump fat, and chew it, only to find it was a tendon. I would take a piece of meat and chew it, but I could hardly swallow it. When he was distracted from me, I would place it between the tray and the bowl. Then he said: "O ‘Utbah, we slaughter a camel every day. As for its fat and its best parts, they are for those who are present from the horizons of the Muslims, and as for its neck, it is for the family of ‘Umar."
