Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 28:401

Muhammad bin Bakr narrated to us, from Ibn Jurayj, who said: Abbas informed me that al-Muttalib bin Abdullah bin Qays bin Makhrama informed him that a woman asked Aisha about a need. She said: "And what is the matter with you?" She said: "We used to take the stipend of a deceased person, so we stopped it." Aisha said: "Why did you do that? You removed them from it, from the fay' (spoils/public wealth) of Allah that used to come to you? You removed it from among yourselves, and that was during the time of Umar bin al-Khattab."
