Hadith 28:452

Waki’ narrated to us, he said: Hisham bin Sa’d narrated to us, from Zayd bin Aslam, from his father, who said: Spoils from the spoils of Jalula were brought to Umar bin al-Khattab, in which there was gold and silver. He began distributing them among the people. A son of his, who was called Abd al-Rahman, came and said: "O Commander of the Faithful, clothe me with a ring." He said: "Go to your mother so she may give you a drink of *sawiq* (barley meal drink)." He said: "And by Allah, he did not give him anything."

حدثنا وكيع قال ثنا هشام بن سعد عن زيد بن أسلم عن أبيه قال أتي عمر بن الخطاب بغنائم من غنائم جلولاء فيها ذهب وفضة فجعل يقسمهما بين الناس فجاء بن له يقال له عبد الرحمن فقال يا أمير المؤمنين اكسني خاتما قال اذهب إلى أمك تسقيك شربة من سويق قال فوالله ما أعطاه شيئا
