Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, from al-Shaybani, from al-Hasan ibn Sa'd, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Mas'ud, from his father, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Do not punish with fire, for indeed, none punishes with fire except the Lord of the fire."
