Waki’ narrated to us, he said: Al-Mas’udi narrated to us, from Al-Qasim ibn Abd al-Rahman, he said: The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, sent a military detachment, and they sought a man, so he climbed a tree, and they burned it with fire. When they came to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, they informed him of that. The face of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, changed, and he said: "I was not sent to punish with the punishment of Allah; I was only sent to strike the necks and tighten the bonds."
