Ibn ‘Ulayyah narrated to us, from Ibn ‘Awn, who said: I wrote to Nafi‘ asking him about a man who is in a military expedition (sariyyah) and takes spoils without the permission of his commander. He wrote back that he should not take them without the permission of his commander.
