Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 28:917

Waki’ narrated to us, he said: Ibn ‘Awn narrated to us, from al-Hasan, that ‘Iyad ibn Himar gifted a gift to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said to him: "O ‘Iyad, have you embraced Islam?" He said: "No." So he returned it to him and said: "Indeed, we do not accept the *zabad* (gift/offering) of the polytheists." Ibn ‘Awn said: I said to al-Hasan: "What is the *zabad*?" He said: "The *rafd* (gift/contribution)."
