Waki’ narrated to us, from Hasan ibn Salih, from ‘Ata’ ibn al-Sa’ib, that when ‘Umar ibn ‘Abd al-‘Aziz assumed authority, he sent these two shares: the share of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and the share of the near relatives—meaning for the Banu Hashim.
