Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 28:927

'Abd al-Rahim ibn Sulayman narrated to us, from Ash'ath, from al-Hasan, regarding this verse: "To Allah, and to the Messenger, and to the near of kin, and the orphans, and the needy, and the wayfarer." He said: The people of the house (Ahl al-Bayt) were not given the khums (one-fifth) after the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, neither by Umar nor by others besides him. They used to hold the view that it belongs to the Imam; some of it is in the way of Allah, and [some is] for the poor, wherever Allah wills it.
