Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 28:933

'Abdah narrated to us, from Hisham ibn 'Urwah, from his father, that two men left their father, who was a very old man, and went out to fight (in battle). That reached 'Umar, so he sent them back to their father and said, "Do not depart from him until he dies."
