Hadith 28:935
Ibn ‘Uyaynah narrated to us, from Musa ibn ‘Uqbah, from Salim or ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Uyaynah: Muhammad ibn Talhah intended to go on a military expedition, so his mother came to ‘Umar, and he ordered him to stay behind. When ‘Uthman took charge, he [Muhammad] intended to go on a military expedition, so his mother came to ‘Uthman, and he ordered him to stay behind. He [Muhammad] said, "‘Umar did not compel me or resolve upon me [to stay]." He [‘Uthman] said, "But I do compel you."
حدثنا بن عيينة عن موسى بن عقبة عن سالم أو عبد الله بن عيينة أراد محمد بن طلحة الغزو فأتت أمه عمر فأمره أن يقيم فلما ولي عثمان أراد الغزو فأتت أمه عثمان فأمره أن يقيم فقال إن عمر لم يجبرني أو يعزم علي فقال لكني أجبرك
