Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 7:168

Abu Bakr ibn Abi al-Aswad narrated to us, he said: Mu'tamir narrated to us, from Ibn 'Awn, from Muhammad ibn Salamah, that Makhlad and Salman used to hold the view that one should offer expiation (kaffarah) before breaking the oath (hanth).
