Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 7:217

Waki' narrated to us, from Isma'il, from Qays, that a woman said: I was with 'Aisha, the Mother of the Believers, when a woman came to her and said: "I have brought this as a gift for the Ka'bah." 'Aisha said to her: "If you had given it in the way of Allah, and to the orphans and the needy, [it would have been better]. For this House is provided for, and it is spent upon from the wealth of Allah."
