Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 7:264

Waki’ narrated to us, from Shu’bah, from Abu Hamzah al-Duba’i, that a man from Banu Sulaym vowed to pierce his nose. Ibn Abbas said: "Vows are of two types. As for that which is for Allah, then fulfilling it is required. And as for that which is for Satan, then in it is the expiation. Release your nose-ring and perform the expiation for your oath."
