Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 7:328

'Abd al-Rahim narrated to us, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Harmalah, who said: I heard Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib, and a man asked him, saying: "I swore that my wife would not enter upon her family for a *hin* (a period of time)." He said: "The *hin* is the time between when the palm tree blossoms until it bears fruit, and between when it bears fruit until it blossoms." Sa'id said: "God struck a parable: 'A good word,' to His saying: 'It brings forth its fruit at every *hin* (period of time) by the permission of its Lord.'"
