The Book of Paradise

كتاب الجنة

Hadith 30:51

Waki’ ibn al-Jarrah narrated to us, from Isra’il, from Abu Ishaq, from ‘Asim ibn Damrah, who said: "And those who feared their Lord will be driven to Paradise in groups," until when they reach one of the gates of Paradise, they will find at its gate a tree from beneath its trunk two springs gush forth. They will come to one of them, as if they were commanded to do so, and they will purify themselves in it. Then the radiance of bliss will flow over them. He said: Their skins will never change after that, and their hair will never become disheveled after that, as if they had been anointed with oil. He said: Then they will head to the other [spring] and drink from it, and it will remove whatever filth or impurity is in their bellies. The angels will meet them and say: "Peace be upon you; you have become pure, so enter it to abide eternally." He said: Each servant will meet his master, circling him as children do with a close relative returning from an absence, saying: "Rejoice! Allah has prepared for you such and such of honor." Some of his servants will hasten to his wives among the *Hur al-‘Ayn* and say: "This is so-and-so, by his name in the world, he has come to you." He said: They will say: "Have you seen him?" They will say: "Yes." He said: Joy will make them lighthearted until they go out to the threshold of the door. He said: He will enter Paradise, and there will be cushions lined up, cups set out, and carpets spread around. He will recline upon one of his couches. He said: He will look at the foundation of his structure, and it will have been founded upon blocks of pearl—yellow, red, green, and of every color. He said: Then he will raise his gaze to its ceiling; were it not that Allah had ordained it for him, his sight would have been taken away by the lightning [of its brilliance]. Then he recited: "And they will say, 'Praise to Allah, who has guided us to this; and we would never have been guided if Allah had not guided us.'"
