Hadith 30:59
Zayd ibn al-Hubab narrated to us, from Musa ibn Ubaydah, who said: Muhammad ibn Ka’b narrated to me, from ‘Awf ibn Malik al-Ashja’i, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "I truly know the last of the people of Paradise to enter Paradise. He is a man who used to ask Allah to distance him from the Fire. When the people of Paradise have entered Paradise and the people of the Fire have entered the Fire, he will be between that. He will say, 'O my Lord, bring me near to the gate of Paradise.' It will be said, 'O son of Adam, did you not ask to be distanced from the Fire?' He will say, 'And who is like You? So bring me near to the gate of Paradise.' He will look at a tree by the gate of Paradise and say, 'Bring me near to it so that I may seek shade in its shade and eat of its fruit.' He will say, 'O son of Adam, did you not say [you would not ask for anything else]?' He will say, 'O my Lord, and who is like You? So bring me near to it, and to something better than that.' He will say, 'O my Lord, bring me near.' He will say, 'O son of Adam, did you not say [you would not ask for anything else]?' until he says, 'O my Lord, and who is like You? So bring me near.' It will be said, 'Run.' Abu Bakr said: 'The *’adw* (running) is the fast pace.' 'You shall have what your feet reach and your eyes see.' He said: So he will run until, when he becomes *baliha*—meaning he becomes exhausted—he will say, 'O my Lord, this is for me, and this is for me.' It will be said, 'You shall have the like of it and multiples of it.' He will say, 'My Lord has become pleased with me.' If He were to permit me to clothe the people of the world and feed them, I would have provided for them all."
حدثنا زيد بن الحباب عن موسى بن عبيدة قال حدثني محمد بن كعب عن عوف بن مالك الأشجعي قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إني لأعلم آخر أهل الجنة دخولا الجنة رجلا كان يسأل الله أن يزحزحه عن النار إذا دخل أهل الجنة الجنة وأهل النار النار كان بين ذلك فقال يا رب أدنني من باب الجنة فقيل يا بن آدم ألم تسأل أن تزحزح عن النار فقال ومن مثلك فأدنني من باب الجنة فنظر إلى شجرة عند باب الجنة فقال أدنني منها لأستظل بظلها وآكل من ثمرها قال يا بن آدم ألم تقل فقال يا رب ومن مثلك فأدنني منها وإلى أفضل من ذلك فقال يا رب أدنني فقال يا بن آدم ألم تقل حتي قال يا رب ومن مثلك فأدنني فقيل اعد قال أبو بكر العدو الشد فلك ما بلغته قدماك ورأته عيناك قال فيعدو حتى إذا بلح يعني أعيا قال يا رب هذا لي وهذا لي فيقال لك مثله وأضعافه فيقول قد رضي عني ربي فلو أذن لي في كسوة أهل الدنيا وطعامهم لأوسعتهم
