Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 3:1162

Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from al-Musayyab ibn Rafi', from Tamim ibn Tarfah, from Jabir ibn Samurah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Will you not stand in rows as the angels stand in rows before their Lord?" They said: "And how do the angels stand in rows before their Lord?" He said: "They complete the first rows and they stand close together in the row."
