Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 3:1311

Waki’ narrated to us, from Hisham ibn al-Ghazz, from Sulayman ibn Musa, from Uqbah ibn Amir al-Juhani, who said: I was with the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, on a journey. When dawn broke, he gave the adhan and the iqamah, then he made me stand to his right. He recited the two Mu'awwidhatayn (Surah al-Falaq and Surah an-Nas). When he finished, he said: "How did you see?" I said: "I have seen, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "Then recite them whenever you sleep and whenever you wake."
