Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 3:1347

Abu ‘Amir al-‘Aqadi narrated to us, he said: ‘Ali ibn Mubarak narrated to us, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from Muhammad ibn Ibrahim ibn al-Harith, he said: I heard Hisham ibn Isma’il on the pulpit of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) saying: Abu al-Darda’ used to say: Recite in the first two rak’ahs of the Dhuhr prayer the Mother of the Book (al-Fatihah) and a surah, and in the last two, the Opening of the Book (al-Fatihah). And recite in the first two rak’ahs of the ‘Asr prayer the Mother of the Book and a surah, and in the last two, the Opening of the Book. And in the last rak’ah of the Maghrib prayer, the Mother of the Book. And in the two rak’ahs of the ‘Isha’ prayer, the Mother of the Book.
