Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 3:1379

Ibn Numayr narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq narrated to us, from Makhul, from Mahmud ibn al-Rabi’, from ‘Ubadah ibn al-Samit, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) led us in the Isha prayer, and the recitation became heavy upon him. When he finished, he said: "Perhaps you recite behind your Imam?" We said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah, we indeed do that." He said: "Do not do so, except for the Mother of the Qur’an (Al-Fatiha), for there is no prayer for the one who does not recite it."
