Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 3:143

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Hafs narrated to us, from Ibn Jurayj, from Nafi’, from Ibn Umar, who said: If you arrive while the Imam is bowing, and you place your hands upon your knees before he raises his head, then you have caught [the Rak'ah].
