Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 3:1692

Husayn ibn Ali narrated to us, from Za'idah, from al-A'mash, from Abu Sufyan, from Jabir, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) prepared an army until it was the middle of the night, or it reached that point. Then he came out to us and said: "The people have prayed and slept, while you have been waiting for the prayer. Know that you have remained in a state of prayer as long as you were waiting for it."
