Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 3:1701

Muhammad ibn Ubayd narrated to us, from Harun ibn Antara, from Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Aswad, from his father, who said: I and Alqama found a scroll, so we went with it to Abdullah. We sat at the door, and the sun had passed the meridian or was about to pass it. He woke up and sent the slave girl, saying, "Look at who is at the door." She returned to him and said, "Alqama and al-Aswad." He said, "Give them permission." So we entered. He said, "It is as if you have sat for a long time at the door." They said, "Yes." He said, "What prevented you from asking for permission?" They said, "We feared that you might be sleeping." He said, "I would not have liked for you to think this of me. This is an hour that we used to liken to the night prayer."
