Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 3:2210

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Hushaym narrated to us, he said: ‘Abd al-Malik ibn Abi Sulayman informed us, from ‘Ata’, that he was asked about the mosque, that the Qur’an be written in its qiblah (direction of prayer), and he did not see any harm in it.
