Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 3:2441

Jarir narrated to us, from Mansur, from Ibrahim, regarding a man who is greeted with *salam* while in prayer: He said: He should return the *salam* to him when he finishes. If he has already left, he should follow him with the *salam*.
