Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 3:2515

Husayn ibn Ali narrated to us, from Za'idah, from Simak, from al-Qasim ibn Abd al-Rahman, from his father, from Abdullah, who said: We traveled by night one night with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). He said: We said, "O Messenger of Allah, if only you would let us stay on the ground so we could sleep and our mounts could graze." He said: "Who will guard us?" I said: "I will." But my eyes overcame me, and nothing woke us except the rising of the sun. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) did not wake up except by our talking. He said: So he ordered Bilal, and he gave the adhan and the iqamah, and he led us in prayer.
