Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 3:2908

Ibn ‘Ulayyah narrated to us, from Layth, that Abu Burdah used to speak during the Friday [prayer/sermon] while the scrolls (suhuf) were being read. And al-Sha’bi did not see any harm in that.
