Hadith 3:2912

Ibn ‘Ulayyah narrated to us, from Ibn ‘Awn, who said: Hammad ibn Abi Sulayman met me while the mu’adhdhins were giving the adhan on Friday and the Imam had already come out. He spoke to me, but I did not speak to him. Then we met on another Friday, and he spoke to me while the scrolls (suhuf) were being read. He began speaking to me, but I did not speak to him. He said, "O son of my brother, the silence was only [required] before today, when they would preach with the Book of Allah and speak about it. So we would remain silent for these scrolls of theirs." Ibn ‘Awn said: I mentioned this to Ibrahim. Ibrahim said: "The Shaytan comes to one of them—or his own self—[and suggests this]. The silence was only [required] before, when they would preach with the Book of Allah and speak about it."
