Hushaym narrated to us, from Mughirah, from Ibrahim, who said: It reached him that Tamim ibn Salamah went out on the day of Fitr, and with him was a companion of his. He said to his companion, "Have you eaten anything?" He said, "No." So Tamim walked to a grocer and asked him to give him a date or something else, and he did so. He gave it to his companion, and he ate it. Ibrahim said: "His walking to a man to ask him is more severe upon him than his leaving the food, had he left it."
