Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 3:3306

Kuthayyir ibn Hisham narrated to us, from Ja'far ibn Burqan, from Abu Hamzah, the freed slave of Yazid ibn al-Muhallab, that Matar ibn Najiyah asked Sa'id ibn Jubayr about the prayer on the day of al-Adha and the day of al-Fitr. He ordered that it be prayed before the sermon. The people disapproved of that, so Sa'id said, "It is, by Allah, well-known. It is, by Allah, well-known."
