Ibn Numayr narrated to us, from al-A’mash, from Isma’il ibn Raja’, from his father, who said: Marwan brought out the pulpit and began with the sermon before the prayer. A man stood up to him and said: "O Marwan, you have opposed the Sunnah. You brought out the pulpit, and it was not brought out, and you began with the sermon before the prayer." Abu Sa’id said: "Who is this?" They said: "So-and-so." He said: "As for this one, he has fulfilled what was upon him."
