Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 3:3546

Waki’ narrated to us, from Sufyan, from al-A’mash, from al-‘Ala’ ibn Badr, from Abu al-Sha’tha’, who said: Salman said: "Peace be upon you. [Perform] prayer between the two night prayers (Maghrib and Isha), for it lightens for one of you his recent occurrence (minor impurity/sin) and removes from him the idle talk of the beginning of the night. For the idle talk of the beginning of the night is a purifier, or a guide, or a remover of the latter part of it."
