Hadith 3:3632

Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, from al-Taymi, from Abu Uthman al-Nahdi, from Ubayy ibn Ka'b, who said: There was a man in Medina—I do not know anyone among the people of Medina who pray toward the qibla whose house was further from the mosque than his—and he used to attend prayer with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). It was said to him, "If only you would acquire a donkey to ride in the heat and the darkness." He said, "By Allah, it would not please me if my house were adjacent to the mosque." That was mentioned to the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), so he said, "O Messenger of Allah, [I do it] so that my footsteps, my coming, my going, and my return to my family may be recorded for me." The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said, "Allah has granted you all of that and given you what you sought," or as the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said.
