Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 3:4048

Al-Muharibi narrated to us, from Asim al-Ahwal, from Hammad, who said: Do not enter the mosque until you pray two rak'ahs before the dawn, even if it is upon the threshold (or) a pile of sweepings.
