Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 3:4239

Ali ibn Mushir narrated to us, from al-Shaybani, from Sa’id ibn Abi Burdah, from his father, that Mu’adh said to Abu Musa: "How do you recite the Quran?" He said: "I recite it in portions (tufawwiquhu tafawwuqan)." Then Abu Musa said to him: "And how do you recite it, O Mu’adh?" He said: "I sleep at the beginning of the night and I seek strength by it for the end of it. And I truly hope for the reward in my sleep just as I hope for it in my wakefulness."
