Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 3:4298

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Abbad ibn al-Awwam narrated to us, from Husayn al-Maktab, from Amr ibn Shu’ayb, from Sulayman ibn Yasar, who said: I came to Ali ibn Umar while he was sitting on the pavement, and there were people praying. We said: "O Abu Abd al-Rahman, will you not pray?" He said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say: 'Do not pray a prayer twice in one day.'"
