Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 3:4422

Abdullah ibn Idris narrated to us, from Khalid ibn Abi Karima, from Mu’awiyah ibn Qurrah, who said: A man came to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have reached the morning and have not performed the Witr prayer." He said, "The Witr is only at night." Then he said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have reached the morning and have not performed the Witr prayer." He said, "The Witr is only at night." Then he said, "I have reached the morning and have not performed the Witr prayer." He said [it] a third or fourth time, so he performed the Witr.
