Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 3:4466

Waki' narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahman, the freed slave of the family of Talhah, from Abu Salamah, that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, used to perform Witr with three [rak'ahs] at the end of the night.
