Waki’ narrated to us, he said: My father narrated to me, from Abu Ishaq, from Abdullah ibn Mughaffal, that he led the people in prayer during the month of Ramadan. When the day of Fitr arrived, Ubayd Allah ibn Ziyad sent him a garment and five hundred dirhams. He returned them and said: "We do not take a wage for the Quran."
