Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 3:5382

Ibn ‘Ulayyah narrated to us, from Hisham al-Dastawa’i, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from ‘Abdullah ibn Abi Qatadah, from his father, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) used to recite for us in the first two rak'ahs of Dhuhr, and he would let us hear the verse sometimes. He would lengthen the first and shorten the second. He used to do that in the morning prayer (Subh); he would lengthen the first and shorten the second. And he used to recite in the first two rak'ahs of ‘Asr.
