2992. Abd al-A’la narrated to us, from Ma’mar, from al-Zuhri, from ‘Urwah, from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn ‘Abd al-Qari, who said: I witnessed ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab teaching the people the Tashahhud while on the pulpit: "The greetings are for Allah, the pure things are for Allah, the good things are for Allah, the prayers are for Allah. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and His messenger."
