Al-Muharibi narrated to us, from al-Hasan ibn Ubayd Allah, who said: I said to Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Aswad, "What prevented you from asking as I ask Ibrahim?" He said, "It used to be said: Strip the Quran [of anything else]."
