Malik and ‘Affan narrated to us, they said: Hammad bin Zayd narrated to us, from Shu’ayb bin al-Habhab, that Abu al-‘Aliyah used to dislike the sentences that are written in the Mushafs as an opening or a conclusion. And he said: "Strip the Quran [of everything else]."
